Journal History

Journal of Human Sport and Exercise was founded in 2006 by the Research Group in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences of the University of Alicante (Spain). Since its inception, its mission has been to publish original papers of a scientific nature from a multidisciplinary perspective in the Sports Sciences: from sports medicine to pedagogy of physical activity, performance analysis, and physical activity. All this, with the aim of contributing (from research and publication) to the progress of the Physical Activity and Sports Sciences. In addition, JHSE publishes special monographic issues on specific topics.

In 2006, JHSE began its publication with a single annual number. Between 2007 and 2008, 2 issues were published per year. Between 2009 and 2010, 3 issues were published per year. Since 2011 JHSE became a quarterly publication.

After more than 18 years at the University of Alicante, from 2 April 2024 the Spanish Association of Sports Performance Analysis takes over the publication of JHSE starting a new challenge to increase all the journal's impact indexes.
